What Affiliate Links Are
An affiliate link is a tracked URL. If you follow one from our site to a retailer and go on to buy something, that retailer pays us a referral commission. The price you pay is identical to what you would pay going direct — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
How This Funds Our Work
Affiliate commission is our primary revenue. It lets us:
- Buy every product at full retail price rather than accepting samples
- Spend two to three months testing before publishing
- Keep everything free to read, with no paywall or subscription
- Stay independent of the brands we cover
Our Commitments
- Commission never influences a verdict. Recommendations follow testing results.
- We cover products with no affiliate programme. If the best option earns us nothing, it is still the best option.
- You never pay more. Affiliate links do not raise prices.
- We only link to what we've tested. No affiliate links to products we have not personally used.
Identifying Affiliate Links
Links from our articles out to retailer or brand sites are generally affiliate links. They carry rel="nofollow sponsored" attributes in line with search engine guidance and FTC requirements, and pages containing them carry a visible disclosure.
Regulatory Compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the US Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, and with UK Advertising Standards Authority guidance on affiliate marketing. It applies site-wide, and is supplemented by disclosures on individual articles.
